Question Answer
Why doesn’t RoutePilot display any directions for my route? RoutePilot will only display waypoints, such as directions, if they were imported with the route, either via a GPX file or from Plotaroute. If you created the route using Plotaroute, directions are automatically generated when you use Plotaroute’s Auto-Plot feature.
Why does RoutePilot think I’m off-route when I'm not? RoutePilot uses your heading to help identify where you are on the route and will warn you that you are off-route if you appear to be heading in the wrong direction, even if you are near the route. If your device will not always be pointing in the correct direction, set the UPDATE HEADING setting to “When device changes position” under the Navigation Settings – your heading will then be detected from your movement rather than from the direction your device is pointing. When your device is in standby or the app is in the background, it will always use changes in your position to determine your heading.
How can I improve the compass and direction accuracy?

Rotate your device in a large figure of eight. Click here for a demonstration.

Also, try to keep your device level when using the compass and away from any potential sources of electrical or magnetic interference.

Question Answer
Where can I find ideas for routes near me to use with RoutePilot? There are over 1.5 million routes available on Plotaroute (www.plotaroute.com), that you can import to RoutePilot, either by sending them to RoutePilot from your Plotaroute account or by downloading them as GPX files to import into RoutePilot (no Plotaroute account required).

RECORD
Question Answer
Why does the elevation data seem less accurate than the distance measurement? RoutePilot uses the GPS technology in your device to determine your position and altitude. Accuracy of both can be affected by your surroundings (for example tall buildings) but altitude accuracy tends to be less reliable as signals are required from more satellites to work out your altitude than your position.

Question Answer
Where can I check which RoutePilot devices my Plotaroute account is connected to? On the Plotaroute website (www.plotaroute.com), select "My Linked Apps " from the menus. From here you can also disconnect any that you no longer need.
